Rooted in the heart of New York’s evolving sound, "Not A Drill" finds Tone Corlyone stretching the boundaries of drill while offering a closer look at a man trying to get it together. Across 11 tracks, the album moves between sexy drill, Jersey club, Brazilian funk, R&B and lo-fi. Shifting just as naturally between lust, complicated relationships and late-night energy as he does loss, isolation and the pressure of chasing ambition.
With more than five collaborators appearing throughout the project, each song showcases a different side of his versatility without abandoning the distinctly New York attitude connecting them. At its core, Not A Drill is built on contrasts: vulnerability beneath bravado, skepticism behind attraction and resilience often played as nonchalant confidence.
P.S. The title is a play on the "genre", Tone's affiliation to coaching basketball, and the fact that this project is setting the Tone for something only God can make happen.
